Architectural and Historical Reserve "Bozhentsi"

Architectural and Historical Reserve "Bozhentsi" - Bozhentsi is a beautiful Renaissance village with 600 years of history, located 15 km from Gabrovo. A walk along the cobbled streets of the reserve will take you to a wonderful world, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. You will be captivated by the unique two-storey and three-storey houses located on two opposite hills among beautiful greenery. Here you can try wonderful delicacies from the local Shekerdzhinitsa and enjoy divine specialties in typical Revival pubs.

 

Among the landmarks of the reserve is the three-nave basilica "Prophet Elijah" with a bell tower. Interestingly, during the Ottoman rule, such construction was absolutely forbidden, but influential villagers received special permission. In the temple you can see domes hidden under the sloping ceiling, as well as massive stone walls and typical divine arches. In the lower part of the churchyard there was a cell school, which has not been preserved. On the other hand, you can see the large class school from 1872, which is located at the beginning of the village. On the first floor are the hall and the library, and on the second - the classrooms.
