More information

The Aviation and Space Park in the town of Omurtag has opened a museum dedicated to aviation and astronautics. The city is the birthplace of the second Bulgarian cosmonaut Alexander Alexandrov, who in June 1988 flew aboard the Soviet spacecraft Soyuz TM-5 together with cosmonauts from the former USSR - Anatoly Yakovlevich Solovyov and Viktor Petrovich Savinih.
The aerospace park was opened in 2008. Here are exhibited fighter jets, anti-aircraft missile system, radio location station "Zvezda" and others. The small museum of the complex keeps photos and documents related to aviation and cosmonautics in Bulgaria, as well as the spacesuit with which Alexander Alexandrov's flight into space was carried out.
