Assumption is the largest rural Orthodox church in the village of Uzundzhovo. During the Ottoman rule, the village was an important market center and an architect was sent from Constantinople to build a mosque. He has Bulgarian roots and during the construction he skillfully masks the construction of the church with a mosque. The genius was discovered only during the renovation works in 1906. On the dome of the mosque, besides a crescent moon and a star, there was also a blossoming tulip, the stamens of which intertwined in a sign of the cross.
