3 km from Razgrad, in the area of ​​Hisarlaka are the remains of a Roman city. An inscription on an altar found in 1954 and another found on a miliary column show that the ruins are of Abritus.
The Abritus Archaeological Reserve is located on an area of ​​1000 decares. Presents monuments of Roman, Thracian and medieval Bulgarian culture. Particularly impressive is the ancient city with an area of ​​150 acres. A building of a specialized museum was built next to it, in which an archeological exposition was arranged with some of the finds, presenting the material and spiritual culture during the classical antiquity. About 60 epigraphic monuments, tombstones and architectural details are exhibited in an open lapidarium in the area of ​​the museum.
