Valley of the Thracian Kings - Tombs - The Valley of the Thracian Kings is a popular name introduced in a public address by archaeologist Georgi Kitov, which reflects the extremely high concentration and diversity of monuments of Thracian culture in the Kazanlak valley. It is estimated that there are more than 1,500 tombs on the territory, of which about 300 have been studied so far. According to researchers, like the Valley of the Kings in Egypt, Thracian kings and important representatives of the Thracian aristocracy were buried in the Kazanlak plain. In 1944 the Kazanlak tomb was discovered. Between 1948 and 1954, the ancient city of Seuthopolis was studied during the construction of the Koprinka Dam.
