More information
The Ethnographic Museum of Berkovitsa presents the material and spiritual culture of the city and the region. It is housed in the Serbian House - a building, a typical representative of the old town house in Berkovitsa. In the various collections of the museum, visitors can see exhibits of Berkovitsa ceramics, Chiprovtsi carpets, Karakachan costumes, urban dresses from the 20s of the XIX century. The crafts typical for the region are also presented - pottery, coppersmithing, silkworm breeding (silk production) and others.
For visitors to the museum is especially interesting internal bathroom - because of the way the water is heated - on one of the walls of the bathroom were hung two ceramic jars, and in the room on the other side of the wall where the kitchen was, there was a wall stove. When the wall stove was lit, the water in the jars was also heated. In the house you can also see a ceramic sewer to remove dirty water and a "sink" - the place for washing dishes in the kitchen.
