More information
The Alexander Tomb was discovered in 2000 by the archaeologist Georgi Kitov near the village of Alexandrovo, Haskovo region and dates back to the 4th century BC. It belonged to a noble Thracian aristocrat or Thracian king. The tomb was looted in antiquity, but there are impressive murals on the walls of the tomb. The tomb was found in the mound Roshavata Chuka, standing about 500 meters east of the village. An exact replica of the tomb is on display at the Museum Center "Thracian Art in the Eastern Rhodopes" 150 m north of the mound, built with a donation from Japan and opened in 2009.
