Visiting the historical museum in Balchik you can see over 20,000 cultural values, including marble statues from discoveries made in the region. Among the exhibits of the museum are many artifacts from different historical periods - from the Eneolithic to the Middle Ages - ceramics and glass, sculptures, architectural details, coin collections. The greatest value of the Historical Museum in Balchik, called by Bulgarian and foreign archaeologists "the discovery of the century", is the temple of the Pontic mother goddess Cybele. The studied ancient temple is the only temple of Cybele discovered so far in the eastern part of the Balkan Peninsula and is the best preserved temple of the goddess in the world. Every year, the temple of Cybele attracts many tourists from around the world who come to see the various objects and statues of the mother goddess and learn more about the cult of ancient peoples to Cybele.
