More information
In the western part of Stara Zagora there is a prehistoric settlement mound. It is 8.5 m high and has a diameter at its base of 90 m. The first inhabitants of this place settled during the Neolithic Age (late VII - VI millennium BC) and with small interruptions life here continues until the Bronze Age. epoch (III millennium BC).
Rescue archeological excavations in 1969 revealed the remains of a burnt house, which is one of the best preserved and richest two-storey residential building in Europe from the Early Neolithic era (early VI millennium BC). . It is preserved and stored "in situ" in a special protective building.
Standing in front of the discovered remains of the Neolithic house, a world of people who lived in this place 8000 years ago is revealed to us.
In the basement of the building there is an exhibition "Prehistoric art in Stara Zagora". In it you can see beautiful masterpieces of ceramic vessels, anthropomorphic and zoomorphic sculptures, jewelry and tools made by the creators of the first European civilization.
