More information
The covered bridge in the town of Lovech is one of the symbols of the town and one of the most visited local landmarks.
At the end of the 19th century, the inhabitants of Lovech turned to the self-taught master Kolyu Ficheto with a request to build a covered bridge with shops. It began construction in 1874 and completed it in the winter of 1876. The covered bridge connects the new part of the city with the old town - the architectural and historical reserve "Varosha", where the museum of Vasil Levski and the Ethnographic Museum are located.
There are shops, a cafe and a pastry shop, which offer a beautiful view of the river and the city.
The covered bridge is a popular place among tourists, and souvenirs from Lovech can be bought from its shops. The bridge over the Osam River is also the only covered bridge on the Balkan Peninsula.
