More information
The name of the neighborhood is an articulated form of varosh - an obsolete name for an outer city (near a fortress), preserved as a proper name of ancient (today) neighborhoods in Bulgarian cities.
In the era of the Bulgarian Revival at the foot of the hill Hissarya with the Lovech medieval fortress was formed the Revival neighborhood Varosha. Lovech craftsmen and merchants live there. After the Liberation from Ottoman rule, the neighborhood developed according to the needs of modern times.
The unique appearance of the reserve creates the typical Lovech Revival house. During its construction, the construction flair is manifested in the skillful use of the steep and rocky terrain. Her face is usually facing the yard. The ground floor is built with a stone wall with puzzles for ventilation and defense. Above it is the living floor with a veranda or corner. The house has a stone fence up to 2 m high and a massive oak gate. The owner's workshop and shop are located outside the house, on the town bazaar, whose natural extension is the Covered Bridge. Today the Revival houses are inhabitable, as a small part of the buildings are used for public needs.
The most interesting sites in Varosha are the following:
(native) houses of Todor Kirkov, Hristo Tsonev (the Latin), Mihail Minev, Nikola Tsvyatkov, Vasil Genov-Cheshmeto, Pano Boyadzhidraganov (Agopa), Maria Sirkova; churches "Holy Sunday" and "Assumption";
